Bengaluru is ready for New Year 2026 with heavy traffic curbs and crowd control. Authorities expect over 10 lakh people in key areas like M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Indiranagar, and Koramangala. Nearly 20,000 police personnel are deployed citywide. A new Heat Map system monitors crowd density. Traffic measures include curbs on M.G. Road, Brigade Road, Y.D. Math Road in Koramangala, and near malls like Orion and Mall of Asia. To maintain order, 10 drones, 249 cobra vehicles, and 400 traffic wardens are on duty. Police set up 166 drunk driving checkpoints and monitor 92 spots to stop stunt riding and rash driving. Fifty flyovers will close during night hours to control speed and traffic flow. Metro services will run late on Purple, Green, and Yellow Lines on New Year's night. Last trains operate between 1:30 a.m. and 3:10 a.m., with shorter intervals to ease travel. M.G. Road Metro Station closes at 10 p.m., but nearby Trinity and Cubbon Park stations remain open for boarding. Token sales stop at 11 p.m., but advance tickets, QR codes, and smart cards will be accepted. BMTC runs special buses between 11 p.m. on December 31 and 2 a.m. on January 1. Buses start from M.G. Road Metro and Brigade Road, reaching destinations like Electronics City, Sarjapura, Yelahanka, Banashankari, and more.
