The National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) and The Hindu will organise the FIC Chess Tournament in Hyderabad on Saturday, January 3. The one-day event takes place at the State Art Gallery in Madhapur. It features competitions for boys and girls across age groups: Under-7, Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, and Under-15. Matches will follow a Swiss League format and be played under the latest FIDE Rapid Rules. Players born on or after January 1, 2011, can participate. The Telangana Chess Association supports the event. Registration is free but must be done online; no spot registrations will be accepted. Participants must carry a photocopy of their Aadhaar card for verification. Registered players should report to the venue by 9:30 a.m. The top three players in each category will receive prizes, certificates, and a shield.
