DRI Busts Gold Smuggling at Mumbai Airport, Seizes ₹3.89 Crore Worth Gold

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has broken a gold smuggling ring at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. On December 31, 2025, officials stopped a passenger who had come from Bahrain. They found 12 capsules filled with gold dust in wax form hidden inside a water tumbler. Together, the gold weighed 3.05 kg and was 24-carat pure. The seized gold is valued at ₹3.89 crore. Authorities have confiscated the gold and started an investigation. An official confirmed the bust and said the probe is ongoing.
