The Telangana Government is preparing a strong PowerPoint Presentation (PPT) to expose the Opposition Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) over irrigation policies. Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy will brief Ministers, MLAs, and senior leaders about various irrigation projects in the state. This meeting will take place on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in the late afternoon, with Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy present. It is just a day before the Winter Session of the Assembly resumes on January 2. The ruling Congress wants to inform people about its efforts to secure the State's river water rights since it came to power. Recently, Congress and BRS exchanged accusations about unfair river water sharing in the past. Former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao threatened to start an agitation, blaming the current Government for not completing the Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS). He claimed the BRS had finished 80% of the project, which is crucial for Mahbubnagar, Rangareddy, and Nalgonda districts, but Congress neglected it. The presentation is expected to focus on irrigation projects, especially the PRLIS, and the sharing of Godavari and Krishna waters between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy will update Congress elected representatives on government actions, enabling them to speak strongly in the upcoming Assembly debate. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has asked Cabinet members and party legislators to be ready with detailed documents on Krishna water sharing to "expose" what he calls the "historic injustice" done to Telangana under the BRS government. Irrigation issues are likely to dominate the Assembly discussions. Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Cabinet Ministers, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president B. Mahesh Kumar Goud, Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs, Assembly and Council members will attend the briefing.
