The Sri Sathya Sai district police arrested the second key member of the Hindupur SBI robbery gang on Thursday. Mohammed Ishrar Khan, alias Ishrar, from Karauli district, Rajasthan, was taken into custody with gold ornaments worth ₹3.5 crore. This brings the total recovery in the case to ₹5.5 crore. Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar said the case relates to a July 2025 robbery at the SBI branch in Thumukunta Industrial Area, Hindupur rural limits. Earlier, in August, police caught the prime accused, Anil Kumar Panwar from Haryana, and seized 2 kg of gold worth ₹2 crore, as well as a car and a motorcycle used in the crime. The officials noted that both suspects are experienced bank burglars with records across several states. Mr. Satish Kumar said, "Both accused are habitual bank burglars who targeted financial institutions after conducting detailed reconnaissance. They were involved in 14 criminal cases registered across India, including major bank robbery cases in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu." The police operation was led by Deputy SP K.V. Mahesh from Hindupur, working closely with teams across states to crack the case.
