A fire broke out late Thursday night in Thachna village, Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, caused by an LPG cylinder blast. The fire spread fast and gutted five houses. Two men helping to fight the fire were injured and given first aid. Teams from district administration, police, army, and fire services responded quickly. They used fire tenders and removed LPG cylinders nearby to stop the fire from spreading more. Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Sharma said the fire was controlled after several hours. He confirmed no lives were lost. The affected houses belonged to Liaqat Mir, Bashir Ahmed, Alfa Mir, and Jibran Mir. Relief tents and materials have been given to the victims. A full damage assessment will be done soon. Local leaders reacted strongly. BJP’s Sunil Sharma stayed in close contact with affected families about relief. National Conference MP Sajad Kitchloo said he spoke to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to arrange immediate help. Jammu and Kashmir Congress chief Tariq Hamid Karra urged urgent support, shelter, and rehabilitation amid the cold weather. Authorities continue to support the village as recovery efforts move forward.
