Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh announced on January 2, 2026, that the 'Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna' will start on January 15. This scheme offers free cashless medical treatment up to ₹10 lakh to every family in Punjab. It covers all 65 lakh families in the state. Any Punjab resident with an Aadhaar card and voter card can use the benefits. "This scheme will cover 100% of the population in the State," said Dr. Singh. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will officially launch the scheme on January 15. More than 9,000 camps will be held to help people enroll and make their health cards. "Once enrolment is done, a person will be eligible for free treatment," said the Minister. The scheme covers around 2,200 medical procedures. Earlier, Chief Minister Mann said the scheme will offer cashless and paperless treatment, reducing healthcare costs in urban and rural areas. Hospitalisation, surgeries, ICU care, diagnostics, medicines, and pre- and post-hospitalisation treatment will all be included in approved packages.
