A tragic accident happened on Bynapalli Koot Road near Natrampalli in Tirupattur on Friday morning. A 37-year-old man named A. Suresh, a mason from Byanapalli village, was killed when a lorry overturned and fell on him. The lorry was carrying illegally mined sand. Police caught the lorry owner S. Navamani, 48, and driver K. Rangasamy, 28, and placed them under arrest. The police had received a tip-off and tried to stop the vehicle as it drove through the area. But Rangasamy sped away, losing control and causing the lorry to overturn. The accident happened at about 11 a.m. Suresh was crushed to death in the incident. His body was sent for a post-mortem at the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur. Police have registered a case and are investigating further. Both the owner and driver have been sent to the sub-jail in Tirupattur.
