Madhapur police of the Cyberabad Commissionerate have filed a case against BRS MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy for allegedly encroaching nearly five acres of Durgam Cheruvu in Madhapur. The complaint was filed by the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA). Police confirmed the case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority had issued a Full Tank Level (FTL) primary notification in 2014, clearly marking the limits of Durgam Cheruvu. Despite this, Kotha Prabhakar Reddy and another person named Venkat Reddy are accused of filling the lake area with soil and stones. The space was reportedly used as a commercial parking lot for private vehicles. Recently, HYDRAA removed illegal structures spread across nearly five acres from the lake's FTL. The police are continuing their investigation into the case.
