A roof collapse at Curragh coalmine in central Queensland has left one worker missing and another recovering in hospital. Police were called around 3pm on Friday after the roof gave way inside the mine. The missing worker is believed trapped as far as 1km underground. Queensland’s acting minister for natural resources and mines, Tony Perrett, said rescue teams are onsite "doing everything possible." He confirmed two workers were safely recovered before the collapse, with one still unaccounted for. On Saturday morning, police said one injured worker was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Curragh coalmine is located north of Blackwater, 200km west of Rockhampton. It covers 256 square kilometres across two mines and has operated since 1983. Rescue crews will continue searching on Saturday.
