Florida Congressman Randy Fine has called for a complete pause on all immigration to the United States. Speaking on Newsmax, Fine said the immigration system is broken. He claimed many foreigners come on tourist visas, claim refugee status to get benefits, and then return home for vacations. "We've got to pause all immigration to this country right now—legal immigration, illegal immigration, all of it. Because the system is completely broken," Fine said. He added that some immigrants protest against America after arriving, and others take jobs from American workers. "Until we fix the system—until we make sure that only people who share American values, who want to assimilate, who want to be Americans are allowed in—this country needs a pause on all immigration," he said. Last month, Fine introduced the ‘No Welfare for Non-Citizens Act.’ This bill seeks to stop all non-citizens, even those legally in the US, from receiving federal benefits like healthcare, housing, and food aid. Fine stated the bill aims to protect American taxpayers and reduce spending by directing welfare funds to citizens and native-born Americans. Supporters say the bill closes loopholes that allow some non-citizens to access benefits unfairly. However, Democrats and progressive groups warn the bill could harm lawful immigrants who contribute to the US economy and pay taxes. Fine defends the legislation by saying it addresses worries that non-citizens take advantage of taxpayer money while integrating too much into society.
