Cyberabad Police Launches Operation Smile-XII to Rescue Missing and Vulnerable Children
January 3, 2026
The Cyberabad Police launched Operation Smile–XII, a month-long drive to find missing children and rescue vulnerable minors across the commissionerate. The campaign started on January 1 and will run until January 30. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women and Children Safety Wing, Srujana Karnam said, "The operation is focused on identifying missing children and rescuing minors found engaged in begging, rag picking, child labour and human trafficking and ensuring rehabilitation and reintegration of children through coordinated efforts with various government departments and voluntary organisations."
To carry out the operation, 12 special teams have been set up. Each team is led by a sub-inspector and supported by four police constables, including one woman constable. These teams will conduct systematic field checks in vulnerable areas within Cyberabad. The police will also use facial recognition technology via the Darpan mobile application to trace missing children and reunite them with their families, the DCP added.
Those present at the launch included W&CSW ACP S. Krishna Prasad, Child Welfare Committee members from Ranga Reddy, Medchal, and Sangareddy districts, and representatives from Bala Raksha Bhavan and the Association for Voluntary Action. Officials from labour and health departments, district child protection officers, and Anti-Human Trafficking Unit members also joined the meeting.
