A 35-year-old laboratory technician named K. Parthiban was arrested on Saturday in Pudukkottai village near Tirupattur town. He is accused of causing the death of a welder by giving him an injection. Parthiban had worked as a contract lab technician at the Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur but was dismissed years ago. Since then, he has been treating patients at home without proper qualifications. Police said, "Parthiban was offering medical treatment to patients in the village for many years without professional qualification." He used his two-wheeler to avoid health officials and police. The victim, 34-year-old welder S. Sakthivel from Pudupettai village, became friends with Parthiban a few months ago. Sakthivel got injured at work and then suffered from high fever. His family called Parthiban to treat him at home. After Parthiban gave an injection, Sakthivel collapsed immediately. He was rushed to the Government Taluk Hospital but was declared brought dead. Hospital authorities alerted the police, who registered a case and formed special teams to arrest Parthiban. A probe into the incident is ongoing.
