On January 3, officials from the Child Welfare Committee and district police rescued an eight-month-old boy in Sulibele village. They acted after an anonymous tip warned of a possible ritual sacrifice for wealth. The rescue team found the baby in a house in Janatha Colony. Officials discovered a hole dug by the adoptive parents, with coconut, incense sticks, and pooja items nearby. The baby’s adoptive parents had taken the child from a migrant couple from Kolar without legal permission. Both sets of parents are now in police custody. The baby is stable and undergoing medical tests. Authorities are investigating the ritual attempt and illegal adoption practices.
