Chittoor Police Launch Helmet Drive and Ramp Up Drone Surveillance for Safety
January 5, 2026
The Chittoor district police have launched a helmet awareness campaign on January 5, 2025, at the busy Chittoor–Tirupati National Highway near Rangampeta Cross. Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi led the initiative, joined by Deputy SP T. Sainath. Officials installed a large flex banner stressing helmet use for two-wheeler riders and pillions. Deputy SP Sainath said, "Head injuries account for a majority of fatalities in road accidents and wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the risk of death and serious injury." He urged everyone to follow helmet rules for personal safety. The Chittoor–Tirupati stretch is among the busiest roads in the district, pushing for continued awareness to improve road discipline. Alongside the campaign, police have increased drone surveillance to monitor public spaces. During a recent operation, drones spotted three groups drinking alcohol near Sambayya Kandriga village. Police rushed to the scene, detained the individuals, and started legal action. Chittoor Urban Inspector Maheswara Mopuri warned, "Consuming liquor in public places, unlawful gathering in groups, and engaging in anti-social activities are punishable offenses." He added drones would keep monitoring public safety and order. These efforts show Chittoor police’s focus on increasing safety and curbing unlawful activities.
