Two Indian-Origin Men Arrested in US with 309 Pounds of Cocaine Hidden in Truck
January 6, 2026
Two Indian-origin men, Jasveer Singh and Gurpreet Singh, were arrested in the US while transporting 309 pounds of cocaine in their tractor-trailer. Jasveer, who was driving, and Gurpreet, the passenger, both held California commercial driver's licenses. Jasveer told police he worked as a truck driver at Sidhu Trucking Inc. He said he hitched a ride in a different truck from California to Joplin, Missouri, to pick up the tractor-trailer. He claimed he was told to drive the 'empty' trailer to an Indian restaurant at Exit 151 near Richmond to eat and wait for freight. Jasveer added the truck did not have an Electronic Logging Device and he did not complete a paper logbook.
Gurpreet said he also hitched a ride from California to Joplin in another truck and was not a company employee. He was told to go to the same Indian restaurant and did not fill out any logbook.
During the stop, a police officer noticed many cardboard boxes covered by a blanket in the sleeper area of the truck. The officer also saw a black plastic bag with a partially exposed package wrapped in brown duct tape and cellophane, confirming their suspicions. When offered a search warrant, Jasveer initially agreed but later refused after calling the trucking company.
