Punjab Police and the Border Security Force (BSF) made a big catch in a trans-border drug smuggling case. They recovered almost 20 kg of heroin and arrested four accused, including the main person controlling the supply chain. Punjab Police Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on January 6, 2026, that the top accused is connected to handlers in Pakistan. He was coordinating the delivery and distribution of drug shipments across the region. "An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act, and the investigation is underway to identify cross-border handlers, trace supply routes, and dismantle the entire network," the DGP said in a post on X (formerly Twitter). The crackdown aims to stop illegal drugs from crossing borders and hitting local markets.
