Fog Alert in 11 Telangana Districts; Cold Temperatures Drop Below 10°C in Some Areas
January 6, 2026
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a fog alert for 11 districts in Telangana for Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Fog forms because cooler air with moisture condenses into tiny water droplets near the ground at night and early morning. Dharma Raju, Scientist at IMD Centre Hyderabad, explained, "The change in wind direction is bringing in cooler air with more moisture. When temperatures fall during the night and early morning, this moisture condenses into tiny water droplets near the ground, leading to fog."
The districts expected to have foggy conditions include Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Rangareddy, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy. Hyderabad and surrounding areas will have partly cloudy skies with mist or haze during the morning and night. The maximum temperature will be around 28°C, and the minimum about 14°C.
Meanwhile, between January 5 and 6, four Telangana districts recorded temperatures at or below 10°C. According to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), Bela in Adilabad hit 9°C, Kohir in Sangareddy 9.2°C, Moinabad in Rangareddy 9.6°C, and Nawabpet in Vikarabad 10°C. The other 29 districts reported temperatures between 10°C and 15°C. In the city, Uppal recorded 11.2°C and Bahadurpura saw 13.6°C.
Residents are advised to stay cautious during foggy conditions and cold nights.
