KSRTC’s Budget Tourism Cell Revenue Soars to ₹5.51 Crore in December 2025
January 6, 2026
KSRTC’s Budget Tourism Cell achieved a record revenue of ₹5.51 crore in December 2025. This is the highest monthly income since the project started in 2021. It beat the previous December record of ₹4.5 crore set in 2024. Officials said the success came from attractively priced tour packages and strong traveller interest. "The encouraging public participation has been the key driver behind this achievement," said R. Sunil Kumar, State Coordinator of Budget Tourism Cell. He explained that new travel packages were launched to match the winter mist and festive holidays in December and January. Popular destinations included Malakkappara and Munnar, drawing the most tourists. Currently, Budget Tourism Cell operates from 80 out of 90 KSRTC depots in the state. In December alone, the corporation ran 2,505 trips carrying 1,16,300 passengers to various tourist and pilgrimage sites. Tour packages to Tamil Nadu places like Meghamalai, Ooty, Kodaikanal, Rameswaram, and Kanyakumari also got strong attention. KSRTC uses Super Fast, Fast Passenger, and Super Deluxe buses for these tours. To strengthen the fleet, 150 new green and yellow buses are planned, with 17 already in service for the Budget Tourism scheme.
