Garbage Blackspots Grow in Southeast Bengaluru as Waste Trucks Delay Arrival
January 6, 2026
Parts of southeast Bengaluru, including Adugodi, Ejipura, and Koramangala, are seeing more garbage blackspots again. Waste collection vehicles are arriving two to three hours late. Local residents say officials still track households and fine litterbugs in these areas. Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML) said fines are collected only where waste vehicles operate regularly.
Krithi Rao, who travels from Koramangala to central Bengaluru, shared, “The timings of the waste collection vehicle are unpredictable, as they differ every day and are often delayed by more than an hour. On some days, I have had to store four to five bags of waste at home due to the irregular schedule.” She also noted growing blackspots on Srinivagilu Main Road, even though a transfer station is nearby.
In Ejipura, several localities struggle as waste vehicles come late every day. A resident said, “It comes at 11.30 a.m., when most of us are out. There are many college students and techies living here who are finding it difficult to dispose of garbage.” He added that marshals deployed at night caused garbage to pile up at homes, and on some days they have no choice but to throw out waste before pickup.
An early morning visit showed many blackspots along Ejipura Main Road. Residents say this problem is old and unresolved despite repeated complaints to BSWML officials. Still, the civic body continues to collect fines from those who litter.
An official involved in fine collection said ongoing drain work in the area is causing the collection delays. However, these delays have lasted over two months. Locals also said a waste collection kiosk installed three months ago remains closed for most of the day.
The garbage crisis in southeast Bengaluru continues to grow, testing patience despite efforts to control littering.
