The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Hyderabad zone, arrested Congress party's Balkonda Assembly In-charge and Orange Passenger Transport managing director Sunil Kumar. Alongside him, Trillion Lead Factory managing director N. Chethan was also taken into custody. These arrests are linked to major GST evasion cases. Officials told The Hindu that the arrests came after receiving intelligence about organized GST evasion networks in various sectors. Sunil Kumar allegedly collected ₹28.24 crore in GST but did not pay it to the government even three months past the due date. In a separate case, N. Chethan is accused of running a fake Input Tax Credit (ITC) racket, involving transactions worth ₹22 crore. Both men were arrested under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The DGGI confirmed that further investigations are ongoing.
