District Collector Flags Off Road Safety Rally Stressing Strict Traffic Rule Compliance

District Collector Sumit Kumar called for strict traffic rule adherence to cut road accidents. He flagged off a road safety awareness rally on Wednesday as part of the 37th National Road Safety Month. The rally started at Ambedkar statue junction and ended at Gandhi Bomma junction. The drive has been ongoing since January 1 and will last till the month ends. Its theme is ‘Safety through Education and Transformation through Technology,’ as set by the Union government. Sumit Kumar said road safety programs will run in partnership with police, Roads and Buildings, Panchayat Raj, Municipal Administration, Health department, and National Highways Authority of India. He promised many awareness campaigns across the district during the month. Strict enforcement of motor vehicle laws will continue with a focus on stopping helmet neglect and other safety lapses. The Collector warned that drivers caught drunk will face tough rules. He said, “Driving licences of those found driving under the influence of alcohol will be mandatorily suspended for three months.” He urged drivers to act responsibly on the roads. District Transport Officer Niranjan Reddy and other officials attended the event.
