On January 6 evening, Shashidhar, a resident of Karlekoplu near Kattaya in Hassan taluk, was brutally attacked at Uduvare near Goruru. He was hit with an iron rod by Shiva Kumar, a Shivamogga police inspector, and two associates. Shashidhar suffered serious injuries to his leg and head. Locals rushed him to Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment. Shashidhar told police that he had known Kumar for years and had financial dealings with him. The inspector gave Shashidhar ₹50 lakh to buy property in Shashidhar's name, acting as a benami. But recently, they had financial disputes. The Goruru police booked a case based on Shashidhar’s complaint. Hassan Superintendent of Police Shubhanwita said, "We are investigating the case and actively working to arrest the accused, who are absconding."
