A 65-year-old woman named N. Pounammal was found dead with injuries in her hut at Bethakallupatti village near Vaniyambadi in Tirupattur. Her gold earrings and bangles were missing. Pounammal lived alone after her husband died in a road accident and her three children abandoned her. Passersby alerted Amballur police after spotting her lying on the floor with the main door open. Superintendent of Police V. Shyamala Devi inspected the hut. Forensic experts collected fingerprints and sniffer dogs were used for clues. The body was sent to Government Taluk Hospital in Tirupattur for post-mortem. Ms. Devi said special teams have been formed to catch the suspects. A case has been registered and CCTV footage is being analyzed. The police investigation is ongoing.
