ICE Officer Shoots Woman Dead During Minnesota Immigration Raid, Trump Reacts
January 8, 2026
An ICE officer fatally shot a woman in South Minneapolis during a major immigration crackdown on Wednesday. The victim, identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good, was driving a Honda SUV that blocked unmarked law enforcement vehicles in snowy street conditions.
Officers approached the vehicle and tried to open the driver’s door. The woman then reversed slowly before moving forward, attempting to flee. An ICE agent fired three shots at point-blank range as the SUV crashed into a parked car. Good was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center and was pronounced dead.
President Donald Trump called the shooting "a horrible thing to watch" and described the woman as "a professional agitator." He claimed she "viciously ran over the ICE Officer," who survived and was recovering in hospital. Trump also blamed the "Radical Left" for targeting law enforcement and stressed the need to protect ICE agents.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the shooting, stating the woman tried to run over an officer. DHS Secretary Kristi Noem called the incident "domestic terrorism," accusing Good of stalking and obstructing ICE operations before using her vehicle as a weapon.
The incident occurred amid protests against the immigration crackdown in southern Minneapolis. Hundreds of ICE agents had been deployed in the city in what officials called the largest raid since a welfare fraud case made headlines.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey condemned the presence of federal immigration agents, demanding they leave immediately to stop the chaos. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said his office was investigating the shooting.
The shooting has intensified the already heated tensions around immigration enforcement in Minneapolis and across the United States.
