Special voter registration camps will be held at all 4,079 polling stations in Chennai district on January 10 and 11. Election officials say these camps are part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. This comes ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections this year, following directions from the Election Commission of India (ECI). The camps aim to help those whose names are missing from the draft electoral roll, new voters aged 18 or above, and those who need to update their details. People can apply using Form 6 along with a declaration to add their names. Voters already on the list can object to new entries or request removal of existing names by submitting Form 7. To change address, correct personal details, replace voter ID cards (EPIC), or mark as Persons with Disabilities (PwDs), Form 8 is used. The period for claims and objections is from December 19, 2025, to January 18, 2026. Earlier special camps were also held on December 27-28, 2025, and January 3-4, 2026, to encourage voter participation. The draft electoral roll was published on December 19, 2025.
