Minneapolis was tense Thursday after a woman was killed by an ICE officer during the latest immigration crackdown. Renee Nicole Macklin Good, 37, was shot in the head Wednesday morning. Protests broke out as anger grew. Hundreds marched and clashed with law enforcement. Three protesters were arrested near the ICE office. The Department of Homeland Security sent over 2,000 officers in its biggest enforcement action yet, arresting more than 1,500 people. Witnesses say Good tried to drive away and was not threatening officers. However, DHS and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said the woman "weaponised her vehicle," trying to run over agents, forcing an officer to shoot in self-defense. President Trump backed ICE and called Good part of a "mob of agitators." The FBI will investigate. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey strongly disagreed with Noem's version, calling it "garbage" and said, "Having seen the video myself, I wanna tell everybody directly, that is bullshit." A vigil drew hundreds who mourned Good and opposed the crackdown. Protesters chanted and marched peacefully before some scuffles with officers. Chemical irritants were used on crowds. This shooting has shaken the city and raised concerns about aggressive immigration tactics.
