Officials from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) visited Karur on January 9, 2026. They conducted a detailed inspection of the stampede site at the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) rally held on September 27, 2025. The tragic stampede at Velusamypuram on the Karur-Erode highway took 41 lives. Ten Home Ministry officials arrived from New Delhi and met with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team at Circuit House. They gathered information about the ongoing probe. After discussions, the CFSL team inspected the rally area. They studied the terrain, roads, and surrounding buildings near the spot where TVK founder Vijay addressed the crowd. Forensic experts used gadgets to measure the site and took notes on where deaths occurred. They collected materials for scientific analysis to support the investigation. The field inspection started around 11 a.m. and lasted beyond 2 p.m. CBI officials, who have been based in Karur since October 2025, guided the forensic team throughout the process.
