In a joint action, Kazipet Police and the Task Force arrested a gang involved in kidnapping children in Warangal city and nearby areas. They rescued five children sold illegally to childless couples. The arrested suspects are Kodupaka Naresh, 42, from Ghavapur village, Peddapalli district, and Velpula Yadagiri, 32, from Shantinagar, Peddapalli town. Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh said that on December 28, 2025, a five-month-old baby boy named Mallanna was kidnapped while sleeping outside Kazipet Railway Station. After a complaint, a special police team started an investigation. Acting on clues, police caught the accused near Kazipet Railway Station in a rented car as they tried to kidnap more children. The accused confessed to kidnapping Mallanna and four others before. They revealed the children were sold to childless couples under false claims that they came from orphanages. Mallanna was rescued from Lingayyapalli village in Jannaram mandal. Other rescued kids include a 10-month-old girl kidnapped from Warangal Railway Station in August 2025, a three-year-old boy taken from Kazipet in October 2023, and two five-month and 10-month-old girls kidnapped from Mancherial and Ramagundam Railway Stations respectively. These children were found in Mancherial and Jagtial districts. All five children were safely brought back. Couples who bought these children without legal papers were also arrested. Police Commissioner Singh praised the police teams for their excellent work and announced rewards for the officers involved. Central Zone DCP Kavitha, Task Force and Kazipet ACPs Madhusudan and Prashanth Reddy, Kazipet Inspector Sudhakar Reddy, and others attended the press briefing.
