Telangana Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin has cleared the air on the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) land issue. He said the Telangana government has no plan to take back the land parcel. "The Ranga Reddy District Collector has stated that the show-cause notice will be taken back. It was a routine exercise. This has also been made clear," Mr. Azharuddin told the press. The Collector's office confirmed this in a statement. The Minister added that it is up to MANUU to decide how to use its land. The government will not interfere. Meanwhile, sources at MANUU revealed that the varsity’s decision to upload the show-cause notice on its website caused some concern within parts of the government. Officials from both MANUU and the Collector’s office have been communicating. On MANUU’s 29th Foundation Day on January 9, Vice-Chancellor Syed Ainul Hasan expressed his disappointment over the matter. In a veiled comment, he said, "We are told to remove [it] from the website. Why should we? It will remain. For your information, whatever threat comes across, it will go to the website." This firm stance from the Vice-Chancellor highlights the university’s resolve despite official notice to pull the communication down. The government’s gesture to withdraw the show-cause notice aims to ease the situation.
