Over 10,000 Join Fit Mysuru Walkathon to Boost City’s Health and Cleanliness

Early on Sunday, January 11, 2026, thousands gathered for the Fit Mysuru walkathon. This event aims to make Mysuru a healthy city. It was jointly organized by the University of Mysore, Mysuru City Corporation, GSS Group of Institutions, and others. Social Welfare Minister H.C. Mahadevappa, also Mysuru district’s Minister in-charge, flagged off the walk at the Open Air Theatre in Manasagangothri. The walkathon route covered Bogadi Road, Saraswathipuram, Fire Station Road, Maharaja’s College Grounds, Krishnaraja Boulevard, and more, ending at Senate Bhavan in Manasagangothri. The turnout beat expectations with more than 10,000 people taking part, while 7,000 to 8,000 had registered beforehand. The organizers said the mission is “to transform Mysuru into a Fit Mysuru, Healthy Mysuru, Clean Mysuru, Green Mysuru and Safe Mysuru.” MCC Commissioner led a cleanliness pledge at the start. Drinking water stations, medical aid, ambulances, and volunteers supported participants along the way. Refreshments awaited walkers at the finish. Minister Mahadevappa said the event is about building habits so Mysuru becomes a healthy city. Notable participants included MP Sunil Bose, Deputy Commissioner Lakshmikanth Reddy, University Vice Chancellor N.K. Lokanath, Registrar M.K. Savitha, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, and Zilla Panchayat CEO Yukesh Kumar. The event clearly inspired the community to walk towards a fitter and cleaner Mysuru.
