A British skier in his 50s was killed by an avalanche in the French Alps at La Plagne resort. He was skiing off-piste when the avalanche struck. Rescuers searched for 50 minutes before finding him buried under 2.5 metres of snow. Over 50 people, including medics, ski instructors, and dogs, took part in the rescue mission on Sunday afternoon. The man was skiing with a group but did not have an avalanche transceiver or a professional instructor with him. La Plagne resort expressed its condolences, saying, "Our thoughts are with the man’s family."
