Three people died in a severe head-on collision between a pick-up van and a car in Kunnamangalam, Kozhikode district, Kerala, early Monday at around 2 a.m. The victims were Subik, 27, from Engapuzha; Ahammed Nihal, 27, from Koduvally; and Shameer, 34, from Wayanad. Subik and Nihal were in the car that collided with the van driven by Shameer, traveling from Wayanad to Kozhikode. Locals tried to rescue the victims but could not free them. Fire and Rescue Services later carried out the rescue. Police confirmed all three died on the spot. Two others with serious injuries were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. CCTV footage showed both vehicles were moving at high speed before the crash. The impact completely destroyed both vehicles, police said.
