January 12, 2026
Krishna district police busted a child trafficking gang and arrested three people, including a woman. They rescued two girls and a boy from the accused. Superintendent of Police V. Vidyasagar Naidu said, “The gang allegedly kidnapped two girls a year ago and the boy a month ago. They were sold away to duck rearers in Nandyal, where they were used as labourers.” Police registered cases for kidnap, wrongful confinement, trafficking, Section 79 of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015, and Child Labour Act, 1986. The case started after the grandfather of the boy filed a missing person complaint in December last year. Investigation revealed the accused as Kandula Edukondalu, his wife K. Lakshmi, and T. Prasad from Machilipatnam and Annavaram village of Nandyal district. “The modus operandi of the gang was to kidnap children and sell them to duck tamers, who use them as labourers. Parents of the two girls are yet to be found,” said the SP. The children, from the ST community, are about 10 years old. Another accused, K. Srinadh, is absconding, with police efforts ongoing to arrest him. The team led by Machilipatnam DSP Ch. Raja and Robertsonpet Circle Inspector K. Yesu Babu made the arrests. The boy was handed over to his parents, and the girls were sent to a shelter home, Mr. Vidyasagar Naidu added.
