The University of New South Wales (UNSW), a top Australian university, will open its campus in Bengaluru this August at Manyata Tech Park. An MoU for this was signed on Monday at Vidhana Soudha, witnessed by Minister for Large and Medium Industries M.B. Patil and Higher Education Minister M.C. Sudhakar. UNSW Vice-Chancellor Attila Brungs and Industries Department Principal Secretary S. Selvakumar exchanged the MoU. The campus will initially offer undergraduate courses in commerce, media, computer science, and data science, along with a postgraduate program in cyber security. Minister Patil said, "The academic council of UNSW would directly oversee the Bengaluru campus, with the same curriculum taught here as at the parent university." He added that many leading companies at Manyata Tech Park will provide students strong industry exposure and skill-oriented training. UNSW plans to open another campus soon at the new KWIN City. There is an ongoing India-Australia education and research cooperation program for 2025–30. UNSW already collaborates with institutions like IIM Bangalore, IISc, and the National Law School, as well as several Union ministries and state organizations. Dr. Sudhakar said, "UNSW is widely recognised across the Asia-Pacific region for its strong employability outcomes, with graduates actively sought after by leading employers. The opening of its Bengaluru campus will further strengthen the city’s innovation ecosystem and encourage more international universities to establish a presence here."
