Mangaluru Police Arrest Three Over Assault on Jharkhand Migrant Labourer
January 13, 2026
Mangaluru police have arrested three men in connection with the attack on Diljan Ansari, a Jharkhand-based migrant labourer. The men, named Rathish Das (32), Dhanush (24), and Sagar (24), all from Kuloor, Mangaluru, were arrested after they wrongly accused Ansari of being a Bangladeshi national. The attack happened on the morning of January 11 near the Kavoor police station area. Four men, linked to a right-wing group, stopped Ansari and demanded his identity documents. When Ansari said he was Indian, they assaulted him on the head using his own belongings. A local woman helped the injured Ansari, who was then taken to a local healthcare centre with heavy bleeding. Police were informed by local leaders and registered a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The police team led by Inspector Raghavenra M. Byndoor and Sub Inspector Mallikarjun Biradar arrested the three accused. The search continues for a fourth suspect, Mohan, believed to be involved in the attack.
