The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has won the Onakkoor ward seat in Pampakuda panchayat, Ernakulam district, Kerala. C.B. Rajeev from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) secured 558 votes. His rival Jose T.P. of the United Democratic Front (UDF) got 337 votes. Rajeev won by a clear majority of 221 votes. The vote counting took place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. Onakkoor was the only ward in Ernakulam district where the election was postponed. The delay happened because UDF candidate C.S. Babu passed away on the original polling day, December 9. The rescheduled poll saw a strong voter turnout of 81.74%, with 965 of 1,183 registered voters casting their ballots—487 men and 478 women. Despite this victory for the LDF, the overall power in Pampakuda panchayat remains with the UDF, which holds nine out of the 15 wards. The LDF has now increased its seats to five in the panchayat. Notably, the LDF had also won the Onakkoor ward in the previous local body elections in 2020.
