Minister for Transport M. Ramprasad Reddy on Tuesday, January 13, warned private bus operators against charging extra fares during the Sankranthi festival. He said any operator found violating the fare rules will face vehicle seizure. The Minister assured passengers that the AP State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will not increase bus fares during the festival. "It is a festival gift from the government to the people of the State," he said, confirming free bus travel for women will continue during the festival rush. Authorities have arranged smooth travel for passengers heading to their native places during Sankranthi. The Minister also extended warm festival wishes. Meanwhile, APSRTC launched Cargo Promotion Month running from December 20, 2025, to January 19, 2026. To boost the campaign, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao visited the cargo office at Pandit Nehru Bus Station, Vijayawada. He sent the book “Don’t Lose you Mind, Lose your Weight” by Rujuta Diwakar to all district officers and Executive Directors via the cargo service, paying ₹ 20,000 from his own pocket. Mr. Tirumala Rao encouraged APSRTC employees to help increase cargo door-delivery bookings. The event was attended by APSRTC Executive Director (Engineering) G.V. Ravi Varma and cargo officials.
