Air India Faces London Lawsuit Over Deadly June 2025 Plane Crash Killing 260
January 13, 2026
Air India is facing a lawsuit in London's High Court from families of those who died in the June 2025 crash of a passenger jet that killed 260 people. Eleven claimants filed the personal injury case on December 18. A Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with 242 people on board crashed shortly after takeoff from Ahmedabad on June 12. The plane was heading to London's Gatwick Airport but lost height seconds after takeoff and struck a medical college hostel in a fireball. Only one person survived on the plane, and 19 people on the ground also died. Air India and the lawyers for the claimants have not commented yet. Separately, the families of four victims are suing Boeing in the United States, claiming the crash happened due to faulty fuel switches made by Boeing and Honeywell. The US lawsuit was filed in September. The tragic crash continues to draw legal action both in the UK and the US.
