Minister for Local Self-government M.B. Rajesh opened the first Kerala Chicken ‘Snacks Bar’ on Tuesday at Arappura Road, Vattiyurkavu in Thiruvananthapuram. This new outlet is part of Kudumbashree’s Kerala Chicken project. Kudumbashree members will run the ‘Snacks Bar’, which offers tasty items like broasted chicken, samosas, chicken nuggets, cutlets, momos, and juices. Frozen chicken from Kerala Chicken farms will also be available. The stall is managed by Shaheena M., a member of the Lotus neighbourhood group in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation CDS 3. Kudumbashree aims to open similar ‘Snacks Bars’ in all districts this year. H. Dineshan, Kudumbashree's executive director, attended the event. The activities of Kerala Chicken are handled by the Kudumbashree Broiler Farmers Producer Company. Kerala Chicken currently produces 10% of the state’s domestic chicken supply.
