Telangana Human Rights Commission Orders Report on Ban Breach of Chinese Manja by Feb 26
January 14, 2026
The Telangana State Human Rights Commission is serious about the dangers from banned Chinese manja flying around unchecked. It has asked Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar to give a full report by February 26, 2026. This comes after human rights advocate Immaneni Ramarao filed petitions on December 27 and 29 detailing serious injuries caused by Chinese manja, which is illegal in Telangana. The petitioner called for strict enforcement against the sale of this dangerous thread, including bans on e-commerce platforms. The Commission wants the report to explain what the police and other departments have done to stop manufacturing, transporting, and selling Chinese manja. It also asks for numbers of cases booked, seizures made, and plans to better enforce the ban and spread public awareness. The next hearing will be on February 26 at 11 a.m., after the report is submitted.
