Mysuru Chamber Pushes Civil Aviation Minister to Accelerate Skanjet Aviation Approval
January 14, 2026
The Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) has urged Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu to fast-track approvals for Skanjet Aviation, a regional airline initiative by Mysuru-based Skanray Technologies. In a letter, MCCI President K. B. Lingaraju called the venture a 'landmark initiative' and sought regulatory clearances and policy support from the ministry.
Skanjet Aviation plans to start operations from Mysuru in April 2026 with three ATR-72 aircraft. It aligns with the Prime Minister’s UDAN scheme to improve regional connectivity. Mr. Lingaraju highlighted the city's growing status as a hub for education, IT, wellness tourism, and agrotech but noted limited air connectivity has held back growth.
The airline aims to connect Mysuru to Hyderabad, Chennai, Goa, Kochi, Mangaluru, and Mumbai. This move promises to boost MSMEs, facilitate travel for business leaders, and attract investments in Mysuru and Nanjangud.
"Direct air connectivity will unlock the immense tourism potential of the Mysuru-Kodagu circuit," said Mr. Lingaraju. The project is also expected to create many jobs for local youth in aviation and healthcare sectors.
Currently, Skanjet is seeking clearances and licenses from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the ministry. MCCI requested the minister's help to speed up the process due to the project's importance for southern Karnataka’s development.
“The business community of Mysuru stands firmly behind this indigenous initiative. We are confident that with your visionary leadership and support, Skanjet will help transform Mysuru into a vital node in India’s aviation map,” the letter concluded.
