January 14, 2026
Temples in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts were decorated beautifully on Wednesday for the celestial marriage of Goddess Godadevi, also called Andal Ammavaru, with Lord Sri Ranganadha Swamy, an avatar of Lord Krishna. This event marked the end of Dhanurmasam, observed from December 16, 2025, to January 14, 2026. Hundreds of devotees gathered at the Astalakshmi Sametha Ishwarya Venkateswara Swamy temple, Jagannath Swamy temple, Sri Kanyakaparameswari Swamy temple, and Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy temple in Vizianagaram to witness the Godadevi Kalyanam ceremony. The temple trustees, Durga Balaji and D. Umadevi, arranged the grand event and informed devotees about its significance. In Srikakulam's Shiva Balaji temple, priest Gopinambala Sitaramacharyulu performed the Godadevi Kalyanam. Trustee Gunta Tulasi Rao and others helped provide smooth services to the devotees. Alongside these temple ceremonies, Bhogi was celebrated with great enthusiasm in both districts. Vizianagaram MLA Aditi Vijayalakshmi took part in the Bhogi celebrations, adding to the festive spirit.
