The Kollam Vigilance Court on Wednesday denied bail to Unnikrishnan Potti, the prime accused in two Sabarimala gold theft cases. Potti requested bail, citing over 90 days in custody. However, the prosecution opposed it, stating that the investigation is at a vital stage and further custodial interrogation may be necessary. Judge C.S. Mohith accepted the prosecution’s plea and rejected Potti’s bail application. This applies to both the Kattilapadi (sanctum door frame) and Dwarapalaka (guardian deity sculpture) cases. Additionally, the remand of four other accused—K.S. Baiju, S. Sreekumar, Pankaj Bhandari, and Govardhan—was extended till January 28. All four appeared before the court in person.
