Kerala’s Minister for Social Justice, R. Bindu, recently distributed scooters with side wheels, hearing aids, artificial limbs, and other assistive devices to differently abled people in Thiruvananthapuram district. The event took place at a camp held under the Social Justice department and the Kerala State Differently Abled Welfare Corporation’s Shubhayatra scheme at LMS compound, Palayam. The Shubhayatra scheme aims to help differently abled individuals who have difficulty walking by providing devices that support mobility and self-reliance. During the camp, 48 people received scooters, 43 were given hearing aids, and 10 others received various assistive tools. Additionally, 15 children were awarded fixed deposit certificates worth ₹20,000 each. Jaya Daly M.V., chairperson of the Kerala State Differently Abled Welfare Corporation, presided over the distribution ceremony. This programme reflects the state's efforts to empower the differently abled community and improve their quality of life.
