January 15, 2026
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Amaravati has said the north-east monsoon will likely end soon in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, south interior Karnataka, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Mahe within the next two days. Andhra Pradesh is expected to have dry weather until January 21. Fog and mist may continue in some parts of South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalseema until January 17. North Coastal Andhra Pradesh may see fog until January 19. The Andhra Pradesh State Development Planning Society (APSDPS) reported that except for Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema and East Godavari districts, which faced a rainfall deficit, all other districts recorded normal or excess rainfall during the south-west and north-east monsoons. Out of five districts with excess rainfall, three are in Rayalaseema—Tirupati, Kurnool, and Nandyal—and the others are Guntur and Vizianagaram. Overall, Andhra Pradesh received normal rainfall with an average of 897.4 mm compared to the usual 867.4 mm during the two monsoon seasons. Officials said the monthly weather outlook for February will be released by the end of this month.
