Counting of votes for Nagpur Municipal Corporation elections started Friday morning. BJP is leading on 84 seats. Congress is ahead on 41 seats. The civic body has 151 seats. Polling was held on Thursday along with 28 other municipal corporations in Maharashtra. AIMIM is leading on four seats in Nagpur. The party's candidates Alisha Khan, Reshma Nandgawli, Sofia Sheikh, and Pawan Koye are ahead in Ward No. 3 in Asinagar zone, an area with a large Muslim population. AIMIM contested six seats here. Their chief, Lok Sabha MP Assuddin Owaisi, campaigned in Nagpur. The BJP contested 143 seats, ally Shiv Sena fought for eight seats, and Congress fielded candidates on all 151 seats. In the last NMC election, BJP won 108 seats and Congress got 28. BSP, Shiv Sena, and NCP shared the rest. Counting results are still coming in.
