Venice Attracts Tourists to Sites of Jeff Bezos's Billionaire Wedding
January 16, 2026
Venice has become a hotspot for tourists wanting to see places linked to Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s grand wedding last June. The event, called “the wedding of the century” by the Italian press, drew many celebrities including Kim Kardashian, who arrived at the Gritti Palace hotel jetty. The celebration brought an estimated €957.3m to Venice’s economy, driven by global media attention and curiosity. Guide Igor Scomparin says clients now want to explore where the celebrities stayed, married, and partied rather than usual sites like St Mark’s Square. Visitors tour designer boutique-lined streets, the Aman hotel where the wedding couple stayed, and San Giorgio island where they exchanged vows. Also popular are boat rides on wooden taxis used by stars like Oprah Winfrey and Leonardo DiCaprio, and the famous “Kardashian jetty”. Teenagers especially seek selfie spots but find the jetty ordinary. Protests by activists against the wedding's extravagance and support for Trump were loud but did not interrupt the festivities. Wedding planner Marigiulia Sella notes a rise in demand for luxury multi-day events in Venice’s historic venues. Scomparin shares local stories on tours but admits the fate of one missing designer dress from Sánchez’s 27 outfits remains “a mystery.”
