Russian national Aleksei Leonov was arrested for allegedly killing two compatriots in north Goa. Police said he killed Elena Vaneeva (37) on January 14 in Morjim by slitting her neck with a knife. The incident happened after 11 p.m., according to Vaneeva's landlady's complaint. The next day, January 15, Leonov went to Arambol, eight kilometres away, to meet Elena Kasthanova (37). Police said he tied her with rope-like material and then slit her throat. Both bodies were found on January 16. Leonov was arrested by Mandrem police. Further investigations into the double murders are ongoing.
