January 19, 2026
Actors from Rangayana, Shivamogga, will perform the Kannada play 'Nammolagobba Gandhi' in Belagavi on January 21. The play will be held at Kannada Bhavan at 6.30 p.m. Entry is free. Chidambar Rao Jambe directs this play, written by Dadasaheb S. Chougale, with Omkar Meghalakapur as associate director and music by Raghav Kammar. The play recreates pre-independence history by imagining a village preparing to welcome Mahatma Gandhi for an anti-British protest. The story also presents internal conflicts as some village leaders like the Shanubhog support the British rulers. It also highlights various social issues faced by the village. Karnataka's PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi and KLE Society Chairperson Prabhakar Kore are expected to attend the show.
